Talk about the classic family series "Little House on the Prairie" now.

Great set but no CLOSED CAPTIONING?!?!?!?! It really irks me. So then I DVR the shows off the Hallmark Channel and they have the GAUL to edit the show?!?! Plus they play long drawn out ads that are very annoying..! Anyway my main gripe is with the Crappy put together box set not allowing for CC- !
Grrrrrr

I have the individual season sets and they don't have CC either. In my sets some of the episodes are edited as well and I'm guessing that this is true with your set. But if you watch carefully you will notice that not all of the episodes are edited. Editing happens on every show, not just Little House. I have the M*A*S*H DVDs and there are edited and unedited episodes on those sets as well and I watched both M*A*S*H and Little House when they were new. The Walton DVD sets most likely have edited and unedited episodes on them. I don't know for sure because while I have the sets, I did not watch the Waltons when the show was new. TV or DVD does not matter you will get edited episodes. I will say though that the Waltons and M*A*S*H DVD sets have CC. I don't know why the Little House sets don't have CC because it is a very useful feature even for those who can hear. As for the commercials they are a fact of life. It's also a fact of life that to make room for more and more commercials (which all channels are running these days) shows are edited.

Hallmark like SyFy and AMC play WAY TOO MANY commercials! At least 15- 20 minutes of ads that are very frustrating so now I DVR the Episodes and skip through the commercials. I watch them because of the availability of Closed Captioning. I also preferred when they ran them in the morning slot instead of the time now. I know why they do it Laurie but it still bugs me. But thanks for responding.

You have the DVDs and yet you are complaining about the time slot and the commercials?? If you don't like the commercials and the time slot, watch the DVDs. I very rarely watch LHOTP on TV because even without CC, the DVDs are better because number one you have zero commercials and number two you can watch the DVDs when you want to. You have not seen commercials until you have watched TVLand. Try it one time and I absolutely guarantee that you will grow to love Hallmark, AMC and SyFy. Shows on TVLand start 15 to 30 minutes late because of commercials. To my way of thinking you have absolutely nothing to complain about until you've tried TVLand and you have the DVDs which are commercial free and available to you for viewing anytime you want to watch them.

THE WHOLE ORIGINAL POINT WAS TOO MANY COMMERCIALS ON THE HALLMARK CHANNEL AND NO CC ON MY LOW/LOUD VOLUME BOX SET. I WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT WHATEVER I WANT. I LOATHE TVLAND. I ONLY WATCHED THAT NETWORK WHEN THEY HAD TVLANDON. SMILE LAURIE.

just for you i am posting my amazon.com review... NO CLOSED CAPTIONING?!?!?! WTF, April 11, 2012 Hallmark plays these episodes every day but they're edited and It really bugs me. But at least they offer Closed Captioning- Unlike the expensive Wagon Box Set I bought years ago: No CC and it really makes my blood boil! The soundtrack is also so lousy that you have turn it up and then when the Episode ends the Menu sound just blares the annoying theme song over and over at 10x the needed volume! I'm sure they did this because it was the cheapest and most economical way of putting the set together. ALSO CHEAPY MADE AND THE DISCS FALL OUT AND IT'S AN AKWARD LOOKING BOX SET. NEXT TIME ALLOW CLOSED CAPTIONING FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT!!!! GRRRRRRRR

I too own the whole complete set. Only the first three seasons don't have caption for me, but after that I get caption for each season and episode.

THANKS An_Avid_Reader29! That's the kind of reply and comment I was looking for in the first place. Can you tell me how long ago it was that you purchased your complete set and is it the Wagon Box Set? Thanks-

And here is my case in point about the TERRIBLE volume level of the DVD's. The proof is in the pudding.

I don't own the Wagon Box Set, because by the time that came out I already had all the seasons and three final movies on dvd. I got all of the "Little House" seasons on dvd about 6 years ago.
