Hallmark is self-deprecating everyday they continue to air these "lifestyle" programs. People have every right to complain about these low culture programs. Just because Hallmark has a contract to continue to air these types of shows doesn't mean this is something they plan to keep in the future. Hopefully, one day this network will come to their senses and bring back the programing that I once shared with my family. It would be nice to have Hallmark back in our home and enjoyed once again like we use to.
Hallmark, stop tossing us long time viewers aside like yesterdays news. We were with you from the very beginning but you turned on us at the very end. I'm in protest but I will remain here until they either return to their old programing or go down in history.
BRING BACK OUR BELOVED SHOWS!
A belated Happy Veterans' Day to all of you who are serving, or have served our country-thank you.

I and other viewers have as much right as "long time viewers" to see the lifestyle programming block on Hallmark Channel and the excellent programming of Martha Stewart Living. Lifestyle programming is all about living. Obviously, "long time viewers" denigrate living as "low culture," with minds closed from prejudice and intolerance. For working families who deal with the daily challenges of living, the outdated rerun of Little House on the Priarie at 8 p.m. needs to be replaced by a repeat of the Martha Stewart Show.
"Long time viewers" still have their "beloved shows" with the excessive reruns that are currently on the channel. It is certainly presumptuous for "long time viewers" to want to hog the Hallmark channel for rerun escapism.
"Long time viewers" who continue "in protest" may very well acquire an open mind faced with the hopeless "return to their old programing or go down in history."
gmc- You like Martha, most of the rest of us don't..and that's perfectly fine but If I could offer some advice to you I'd say "less is best" you write so much trying to defend your point of view and it's overkill, so boring (nursery rhymes??) and unnecessary in my opinion. I'm fine with you enjoying Martha but you are outnumbered, obviously, and are not likely to change minds here, if that's indeed what you are trying to do...I wonder if Hallmark is even allowing this discussion to continue because you do like MS. I believe you are the one and only from what I've seen. I agree that this discussion would probably be more appropriate in the Martha Stewart section of the community. BTW HALLMARK..BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD SHOWS!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

my mother is going deaf and relies on the closed captioning. since the hallmark channel closed captioning equipment is pretty much useless these days, she is giving up on the channel entirely. and since she is the person in our family who buys and sends christmas cards and products (what hallmark is famous for selling), this means that hallmark is deleting a member of their core audience that purchases their products (she does not send email cards). no wonder hallark is going down (and reportedly selling out to martha stewart). if the techie types who are supposed to service the equipment are too incompetant to repair it, (or if the equipment is totally shot) then the administrators who are not replacing the old junk are so dumb as to be deliberately alienating their viewers, then the channel is probably doomed. quite sad too. hallmark has provided a lot of good programming in the past. of course if the rumors are true and martha stewart is taking over then her shows will suffer since those broadcasts have lousy or non-existant closed captioning also.

I think it was september 2007, at the weekend, I watched a movie -it was about a family who moved to a new neighbourhood and they took on a nanny who had a weird shady past. She began to poison the woman whom she was nannying her kids, the mother-she began to poison. The mother slowly ended up in a wheelchair with this worsening disease she thought she had, but she was being poisoned by the nanny. Eventually the nanny having schemed, left the woman at the top of the stairs in her wheelchair and [i think she pushed her down, or the woman in desperation fell down] anyway-enter the husband and the Nanny it turns out is obessed with him, she strikes him and he's just about dying whilst he sees his wife laying on the floor unconcious from the fall, the horror hits him and the Nanny starts trying to make out psychotically with the almost half dead husband, who is trying to keep his cool. She had locked the kids in the bathroom I think left them to die also, but [I think its a neighbour turns up after finding out something about the nanny because of her strange odd behaviour and it turns out the nanny was locked up in some institution as a child for 7yrs -I think.
I really want to know the name of this movie desperately, or see it again, can anyone help, Id be absolutely grateful. The TV film, was on the entire day, repeated. Thanks if you can help.

Good morning all, speaking of movies there is a movie I am also trying to find. It was on once last year and I thought it was on hallmark. it is about a woman and 2 little girls who are in a cabin type home in the woods around Christmas and a man comes along , I think to give them an eviction notice, and gets his vehicle stuck in the driveway because of the snow. I also remember a newborn lamb in their barn (I think it was a lamb) on Christmas day. I don't want to give too much information incase someone didn't see it yet but things turn out well at the end. It was such a great movie, I just can't remember the name of it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? thank you

Jbird, do you remember anyone who was in the movie? That would help a great deal.
Maryi, I don't remember the name of the movie you are looking for but I know it was on Lifetime, not Hallmark. Go to Lifetime and join their message board and I'll bet someone can help you.

Hi Ma K, No I don't know any of the actors/actresses. It was definitely not any of the big names though. I hope I can find it again and please write a note if you think you've come up with something. I hope the movie Silent Night is on soon too, or not in the middle of the night I should say. thanks for your interest..

Jbird Is it possible that this is the movie? It actually has two names, I know it's odd.
You can buy it on Amazon but it's VERY expensive. I copied the information below about the movie from amazon.
A Holiday for Love AKA Christmas in My Hometown (1996)
It is about an executive working for a large company that makes farm equipment, the company is having financial problems and thinks that by cutting jobs at the factory level that it will get itself out of financial trouble so they send several executives to several small towns to go undercover and investigate how efficient the factories are being run and to make up a report to see if the factories should be closed. Tim Matheson reluctantly goes to a small town in Nebraska which actually was his hometown that he moved away from when he was a child and his mother left his father. He winds up getting stranded in a blizzard and meets a young widow and her daughter played by Melissa Gilbert and Michelle Tractenberg and spins a tale that gets out of control when he pretends to be a big buyer of farm equipment that the townspeople think will save their factory and town and then he falls for Melissa Gilbert's character which is complicated by the fact that she happens to work at the factory with her father and brother and that closing it down will not only put her and her out of a job but her family and the majority of the towns people too which would destroy their economy and he starts to feel guilty about his deceiving everyone, including the woman that he loves and another factor is that she is dating the sheriff played by Travis Tritt who is suspicious of him and his motives. This is a very good movie and Tim Matheson, Melissa Gilbert and Michelle Tractenberg were all very good but so was country singer Travis Tritt as the sheriff and I must say that even though I enjoyed the romance between Tim Matheson and Melissa Gilbert's character's Jake and Emma I still felt bad for Travis Tritt's character Tim but as it appeared that local gal Betsy had a crush on him and they were sitting together at the Christmas dinner at the retirement home that perhaps Tim and Betsy got together. I very highly recommend this movie which was originally a made for CBS television movie with the title Christmas in my Hometown and has been rerun ever since with that same title every December on Lifetime TV but when it was released on DVD the title for some reason was changed to Holiday For Love which is a nice title but I prefer the original title, Christmas in My Hometown! This DVD is out of print and hopefully it will someday be released with the original title.

Ma K, wow thanks for all that work but I'm afraid that is not the movie. I would have to guess that this movie is much more recent than the mid-'90's. That movie you are talking about has many big names, this one, from what I remember has none. I do believe that the woman in the story is a widow and she has 2 daughters and they have a small farm. I can picture the house, the barn etc..but just can't remember the name of the movie. The man seems to be a guy with alot more means who comes to serve an eviction notice (I think that's the story!!) but then......(don't want to spoil it for anyone) I can tell you that he helps out with a farm animal that may be in trouble. I wish I could give more details but I can't remember. frustrating!!!

That was enough to help me remember the movie and I looked it up.
It is called 'A Christmas Romance' (1994)
Olivia Newton John plays a widow with 2 young daughters living high in the mountains and facing the prospect of a bleak xmas having lost her job and with the threat of the bank taking her home through non mortgage payments.
Gregory Harrison plays bank employee who is to deliver the fatal news on xmas eve gets stuck in her house due to a car crash in a snow storm on xmas eve.
Making xmas cakes to try and make some extra money for the holiday season,Olivia and daughters, one of whom is played by real daughter Chloe whose acting at such a young age is quite credible.
Despite his somewhat nasty character Olivia falls for gregory harrison who although already has a fiance and in true disney fashion all ends happily with Olivia getting to keep her house and is given a framed drawing of her two daughters by harrison.
Bleak settings help to give atmosphere to the film and Olivia is maturing as a tv actress with this film being made not long after her successful battle with breast cancer. Not a glamorous role for Olivia but one with real grit and determination.
I don't think any of the networks air this movie anymore and all the networks schedules are complete for Dec. You can buy a VHS tape copy of this movie at amazon (6 new from $46.95) (13 used from $19.99) but a DVD is not available for the USA, there is only a Region 2 copy of a DVD for sale and it's only good for Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East, including Egypt
