we have seen fireworks in many different places, once on a cold night in schroon lake upstate new york..other times at jones beach, nassau coliseum and maryland from a friend's house..

our tradition for a while was to look down at macy's fireworks from atop the 86th observatory of the empire state building...we used to get there early with sushi when sight seeing was still going on...we would stake out a corner and wait until it got dark....not only could you see macy's fireworks but from that height, you were able to see all the rest going on that night...from new york and new jersey to long island and queens...

Susanf...what an experience to watch from the 86th observatory of the Empire State building!! :banana-blonde: Now that is something I would love to do! In fact, all of the places you have watched fireworks from sound fabulous! :D
My favorite time around here was on Lake Ontario beach in Rochester, NY (Charlotte) when the Tall Ships were there and the fireworks were set off over the lake. Spectacular! These days we usually watch them over Seneca Lake...not as spectacular but still nice.

that sounds great too mllp...i've never seen the tall ships together in a parade like that...just here and there at fairs...

hubby's idea was to watch them from up there...he loved watching fireworks....we stopped going after 9/11....too much security checking stuff...so now we just watch them on tv...we also have neighbors who do their own fireworks spectacular right across the street....

The 4th of July!! We have the classic family get together--hot dogs, brats, burgers, potato salad, deviled eggs, baked beans (really baked in a slow oven), jello salad, and strawberry pies, homemade icecream cranked by hand. Sack races, bad minton, corn hole games, water balloons, 3 legged races, musical chairs, Love that day so much. :)
