When his master dies, a loyal pooch named Hachiko keeps a regular vigil -- for more than a decade -- at the train station where he once greeted the man every day. Based on a true story, Hachiko's faithful routine teaches the station' s patrons about true love and commitment. Starring Richard Gere, Joan Allen & Jason Alexander.

What a lovely story about loyalty and devotion. I wonder, though, if things would have been different for Hachi if he had a friend like Pug At The Beach. In metaphysics and New Thought (think Jack Canfield, Wayne Dyer, and Louise Hay) we're taught that we create our lives rather than discover them. If Hachi were human he would have had the opportunity to embrace a new way to see his world as well as new opportunities to love again.
Here's a movie on Hachi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSeQMrFZ ... re=channel
Here's the book referred to in the movie: http://amzn.to/JacksonDunes
Thank you Hallmark Channel for airing "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" again in October.
Since it will be on a Saturday evening, my daughters can watch it.
I appreciate your airing such a heartwarming story. Every single dog owner can truly relate to it and even those who might not be dog owners would be touched by this story.
Like many others, I also would like to know when HACHI, A DOG'S Tale will be aired again???? I unfortunately missed the beginning.. Also is this movie available for purchase?? if so, where might I
locate it. thank you
I didn't realize it was running (or had already run) on The Hallmark Channel, since we don't get a regular schedule for it; ran across it having already started earlier this afternoon.
Just checked online and it looks like it will air next on November 11, 9 PM Eastern Time. If anyone finds it scheduled sooner, let me know.
I believe it can be purchased or rented from the usual outlets (try Amazon, etc.); I know someone who knows the breeders of the Akitas used; how many realize that Shibas were used as Akita puppies in the movie?
When will Hachi - A D0og's Tale be aired next. Today Is Oct 21, and I have several friends who are interested and several who watched with me this past weekend. When will this be on again? Thank you!!!! It is a lovely movie. Also, I had a Shiba / Chow mix and this movie has very special meaning. He died at 15 years this past April.
See the above post--the movie will be on Tuesday, November 11 at 9/8c. You can always check the Hachi site, which will have the latest airdates.
